Telephone counselling can be a convenient and helpfully anonymous-feeling alternative
The aim of counselling is to help you to explore your personal difficulties in a safe and confidential way. Many people find that over time this can help them to feel better and make problems seem far easier to deal with.
Timing:
How frequently would we meet?
Sessions are a standard 50 minutes long. People often like to meet at a regular weekly or fortnightly time, especially to start with, and spread them out as things improve. Although if you have commitments that make a fixed time difficult, I can be flexible with appointment times. We would usually check in to make sure the process is working well for you at the end of each session.
How many sessions?
Sometimes just a few sessions gives someone what they need, although it's useful to think of around 5 or 6 sessions as a likely minimum. You are under no obligation to have a specific number of sessions, nor to continue, you can cancel at any time. Equally, there are no limitations in terms of a fixed or limited number of sessions. If you feel the need for longer-term support, I can be here for as long as you need.
Do you offer evening appointments?
Yes, I can offer evening sessions if this would be a better option for you.
How much does it cost?
My standard fee is currently £75 per session, with a small annual inflationary increase each April. I can offer a reduced rate for those on lower incomes and am always more than willing to discuss my fees in a flexible way. We can discuss this during a free introductory call.
